Horror
Good horror music combines mysterious and experimental orchestral textures (see also Orchestral - textures) with unanticipated moments of intense rhythm, orchestral stabs, and hits. Horror music is mainly orchestral in nature, but several cutting edge composers and producers have ventured into more electronic sounding scores to accompany horror features.
