The
line between reality and fantasy are being blurred yet again with online
gaming, and royalty free music from Productiontrax.com has added to the
virtual phenomenon that is sweeping the world by storm.
Developed
by Linden Lab (lindenlab.com), Second Life (secondlife.com)
is a virtual world in which gamers can become another person and lead
a full online life. Complete with cities, land, stores, and (of course)
people, Second Life has been the focus of an entire online cultural
and behavioral study, but has served as a community for many, including
artists who hone their virtual (and real) skills.
Utilizing animated scenes and actual virtual people from the Second
Life game, producer and filmmaker Pierce Portocarrero is creating
a documentary that follows the life on Second Life gamer and entrepreneur,
beloved fashion designer Nephilaine Protagonist. Seeing the virtual world
as a new medium in which to refine Portocarrero's filmmaking skills, the
film incorporates real life video interviews with the striking person
behind the avatar. And spicing up the trailer is none other than royalty
free production music from Prouctiontrax.com. After stumbling upon Productiontrax
.com while looking for royalty free music, Portocarrero used "Scat," written
and arranged by Shane McKenzie. The track adds energy and youth to a hip
and novel kind of documentary, and the affordability of the royalty free
music soundtrack helped create the "perfect trailer."
The film is treading new ground, both in the filmmaking world, and in
the online gaming world. Say the creators, " Simply, we are documenting
a movement at a moment in time critically important to the future of communications,
economics and social behavior. It’s almost overwhelming… "
