â€œRenny Jâ€ is actually Reunald C. P. Jones III, born on November 1st, 1958, in New York City, and one of the premier accomplished bass players of recent years. Rennyâ€™s grandfather & father (Reunald Sr. & Jr. respectively) were well known & accomplished trumpet players. Reunald Sr. (â€œJonesyâ€) played with Ella Fitzgerald, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Quincy Jones, The Famous Flames, the JBâ€™s (James Brown), & Nat King Cole. Reunald Jr. (â€œBoâ€) played w/ James Brown, Sammy Davis Jr., Louie Bellson, Motown & other well-known artists. You can hear his signature trumpet every time you hear the â€œSanford & Sonâ€ & â€œIronsideâ€ theme song. They both have passed away, but their legacy lives on through â€œRenny J.â€ Because of Rennyâ€™s unique playing style, he has recorded w/ Parliament (â€œClones of Dr. Funkenstein album), Donna Summer, Toni Braxton, and a host of artists. Renny was raised in the Williamsburg/Bed Stuy section of Brooklyn, NY, in Lindsay Park Co-ops. He grew up being attracted to music. At 12, he acquired his first drum set, and then moved on to bass guitar. Renny eventually moved to California to pursue his musical aspirations. Renny continued on with his dream to record music, making his first recording in 1987 of â€œHerâ€, â€œSeason Of Loveâ€, & Angel Of My Dreamsâ€, writing all the music himself and playing all the instruments. Renny plays the bass guitar, rhythm guitar, drums, and keyboards. Renny continues to pursue his dream of writing scores for film & television.
