Live Rig

Anyone had any success running a live rig using Logic 8 or any other program -- Abelton Live, maybe? Looking for an effective way to play live keyboards and control extra tracks/loops/parts for missing musicians, output a click track for the band to in-ear monitors, etc. You know, live stuff. What kind of gear are you using live? What works best for you?
